In this issue, we explore a range of critical themes surrounding marriage and family life from both Islamic and local perspectives. Our discussions include the negotiation and adaptation processes within forced marriages, highlighting women's resistance to patriarchal norms, the concept of child custody following divorce through the lens of Islamic law, Islamic law and local traditions shape the practice of Appasili marriage in Takalar Regency, Indonesia, and the early marriage and domestic violence, particularly focusing on the complexities faced by the Jember Religious Court in granting marriage dissolution permissions. Through these diverse topics, we aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of how cultural, legal, and personal dynamics influence marital relationships and family law.
