Special Issue on Law in the Modern Muslim World

The Indonesian Journal of Islamic Law (IJIL) is pleased to announce a Call for Papers for December, Vol. 8 No. 2 (2025), which will feature a special issue on "Law in the Modern Muslim World." This edition aims to explore contemporary legal developments in Muslim societies, focusing on the interplay between Islamic law, state law, and global legal dynamics.

We invite scholars, researchers, and practitioners to submit high-quality original research articles, case studies, and critical reviews on topics including, but not limited to:

  • The adaptation of Islamic law in modern legal systems
  • Legal pluralism and governance in Muslim-majority countries
  • The role of Islamic law in national and international legal frameworks
  • Human rights, gender issues, and legal reforms in Muslim societies
  • The role of Sharia courts and religious institutions in contemporary legal practice

As a biannual, bilingual (English and Arabic), and peer-reviewed journal, IJIL is indexed in KITLV-Universiteit Leiden, Google Scholar, Garuda, Moraref, Citedness in Scopus, Citedness in WoS, Dimensions, Copernicus, and other academic databases, ensuring a broad readership and scholarly impact.
