The Indonesian Journal of Islamic Law publishes scholarly articles on Islamic law. This edition has been available online since June 30, 2024. All articles in this edition were written or co-authored by 15 authors representing 11 affiliates and 4 countries: Türkiye, Sudan, Uganda, and Indonesia.

In this issue, we explore a range of critical themes surrounding marriage and family life from both Islamic and local perspectives. Our discussions include the negotiation and adaptation processes within forced marriages, highlighting women's resistance to patriarchal norms, the concept of child custody following divorce through the lens of Islamic law, Islamic law and local traditions shaping the practice of Appasili marriage in Takalar Regency, Indonesia, and early marriage and domestic violence, particularly focusing on the complexities faced by the Jember Religious Court in granting marriage dissolution permissions. Through these diverse topics, we aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of how cultural, legal, and personal dynamics influence marital relationships and family law.
